If you have pets, you know that they can be a big source of dirt and dust in your home. Not only is this unsightly, it can also be dangerous for your family if not cleaned up regularly. One way to help combat this problem is to ensure you have the right type of furnace filter<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0 A media filter, also known as a throw-away filter comes in different thicknesses, the most common being 1\u201d. They also come in different MERV ratings, the higher the rating the smaller the particles it will trap. Going with a thin filter with a high MERV rating can cause too much of air flow restrictions, which can cause a slew of problems. When it comes to pets, allergies or Asthma, a thicker filter, such as a 4\u201d or 5\u201d with a higher MERV rating is recommended, the recommended minimum would be a MERV 13<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
