If your central air conditioner isn’t working, don’t p. Here are 3 things you can do to troubleshoot the problem.
- If the system isn’t running at all, check to make sure the thermostat is set to the cool position and the set point is below the current room temperature.
- If you have low airflow coming out of the registers and the temperature seems to keep going up, instead of down like it should be, check your furnace filter.
- If you notice any ice build-up on the outdoor unit or the copper lines, you will need to turn off the system for several hours for it to thaw. This is a common symptom that your filter is plugged or your system is low on refrigerant. We recommend that you turn the system off, let it thaw, replace your furnace filter and turn it back on. If it freezes up again, then your system is low on refrigerant, and you will need to call a professional.
