Don’t Let The Air Out

Air can seep out of your home in many spots including chimney gaps, around windows or doors, small leaks around where utilities enter your home (dryer vents etc). Take some time this fall to seal up these leaks or gaps with caulking or other sealing tools. This will save on both furnace and air conditioning costs.

Do You Remember Your Last Furnace Inspection?

As we’ve stated many times before, it is good to have your furnace and/or air conditioner inspected & serviced at least once a year. So if you don’t remember the last time you had someone in, perhaps now is a good time!

Don’t Crowd Your Furnace

Don’t overcrowd your furnace, you want to make sure you can access the air filters regularly for cleaning or replacing, as well as access to the coil so you can have someone clean it every couple of years.

If your home has heating duct dampers, it is important that if you close one damper that you in turn make sure another is open. This way you refrain from putting too much pressure on your furnace.

Change Your Air Filters

Change or have your furnaces air filter cleaned regularly. Air filters get debris and dirt built up and not only causes your furnace not to run efficiently but also lowers its life expectancy.
