Your HVAC system is responsible for up to half of your utility bills. Therefore it’s important to ensure that you maintain it to save energy and money. It’s equally important to change your filter in the summer months as it is during the winter months. Both are peak seasons for your system and proper air flow is required. This is due to the fact that in the summer the cool air from your air conditioner is circulated via the blower motor in your furnace, whilst in the winter that same blower motor circulates warm air. A clogged filter reduces your air flow and will cost you money on your energy bill, as well as for repairs and possibly premature replacement of part or all of your HVAC system. Check your filter once a month and change it once every 3 months, and you will save time and money. Additionally, allergy prone individuals will thank you for maintaining a clean filter.
